Medical Student Program

The Duke University School of Medicine is widely recognized as one of the best medical schools in the nation.  Based on reputation, selectivity, research activity, and faculty resources, U.S.News & World Report has ranked Duke year after year as being among the leaders in American medical education.

The surgery core course for the medical degree program is given during the second year and consists of an eight week clinical clerkship.The mission of Duke University Medical Center's Department of Surgery is to inspire the next generation of surgeons by providing medical students with a balanced surgical experience that will meet core surgical competencies in both knowledge and skills. The primary goal of this course is the presentation of concepts and principles which characterize the disciplines of surgery. Medical students are strongly encouraged to visit this site often to obtain up-to-date schedules and information.
