The surgery core course for the medical degree program is given during the second year and consists of an eight week clinical clerkship.The mission of Duke University Medical Center's Department of Surgery is to inspire the next generation of surgeons by providing medical students with a balanced surgical experience that will meet core surgical competencies in both knowledge and skills.
