The Gastrointestinal Surgery team is comprised of surgeons, nurses and support staff who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. We have extensive experience in treating diseases of the esophagus, the stomach, the duodenum, the gallbladder, the biliary tract, the spleen and the pancreas (the upper GI tract). We work closely with colleagues in Surgical Oncology and Transplant Surgery to manage benign and malignant liver conditions.
Our Board Certified Colon and Rectal Surgeons manage exclusively benign and malignant diseases of the small bowel, colon, rectum and anus.
Our Endosurgery Center is nationally and internationally recognized for development of innovative, cutting-edge strategies for managing a host of surgical problems using minimally invasive techniques.
As a group, we have approximately 7000 patient visits a year in our outpatient clinic and we perform over 1500 inpatient and outpatient surgeries per year. We work closely with our colleagues in Gastroenterology, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology to ensure that our patients get the very finest medical and surgical care for the full range of benign and malignant gastrointestinal disorders.
Mission
We are committed to providing outstanding and compassionate care to patients with gastrointestinal diseases. We believe that this type of care comes from the intense dedication and specialization of our staff to specific gastrointestinal disease processes and that coordinating our efforts with our medical and surgical colleagues ensures that our patients get the best multidisciplinary care available.
We are committed to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disease through both basic science and clinical research. We are dedicated to documenting our efforts with the intent of optimizing outcomes for our patients.
We are dedicated to excellence in teaching. We want our patients to understand their disease so they are better able to participate in their own care. We are dedicated to teaching the public and sharing our experience with our medical and surgical colleagues. And we are dedicated to teaching the next generation of doctors and nurses about diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
